Caring Community Event honors Colwins and Mid-States Aluminum October 13, 2015

Fond du Lac, WI: The Sophia Foundation will honor Joe and Dawn Colwin and Mid-States Aluminum of Fond du Lac with its 2015 Caring Community Award at Whispering Springs, Fond du Lac on Tuesday morning, October 13, 2015 beginning at 7:00 a.m. with breakfast and award presentation to follow.    

Christa Williams, Executive Director of the Sophia Foundation says of the annual award, “We are honored to recognize the Colwin’s and Mid-States Aluminum for their on-going commitment to the well-being of community and creating a culture of service and caring within and beyond the Mid-States Company.”   Sophia’s Caring Community Award recognizes an individual, organization, or community initiative for efforts made to engage the community, ignite its potential and in the process, create a more caring community.

In addition to the presentation of the award, the event will feature remarks from Dr. Eric Boos.  Boos is a philosopher, lawyer, professor, missionary, author, speaker, and farmer.  Boos will share personal insights from more than twenty years of working in Tanzania, Africa building community and nurturing the spirit, dignity and potential of its people.      

The Celebration of Caring Community begins at 7:00 a.m. with breakfast at Whispering Springs Golf Club, 380 Whispering Springs Drive, Fond du Lac, and a program to follow from 7:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.  Cost to attend is $35 per person.  To register visit the Sophia Foundation website at or for questions, call 920-979-7407.
